Australian barber Ricky Jefferies is being praised for his bravery after intervening when lawmaker Helen Haines was struck by a car. Jefferies heard a loud noise, ran out, and found the MP seriously injured. He removed a knife from the alleged attacker's pocket and restrained the man until police arrived. Haines, a respected local MP, remains in critical condition after undergoing surgery. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese commended Jefferies' actions, calling him a hero, though the barber downplayed the praise, stating he simply acted when given an opportunity.
