Cabinet Secretariat Noted Action On EC Complaints Could Be Seen As Interference

The Cabinet Secretariat has indicated that taking action on complaints from individual Election Commissioners, without a formal complaint from the entire poll panel, could be perceived as executive interference. This stance was revealed in a Right to Information reply. Two Election Commissioners, Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi, had separately written to the Cabinet Secretary seeking action against Senior Deputy Election Commissioner Maneesh Garg. The Secretariat's noted position suggests a cautious approach to intervening in the Election Commission's internal matters.
