Egypt is hesitant about direct military involvement in Yemen, recalling its costly intervention in the 1960s civil war. While President el-Sisi stated any deployment would be defensive for Saudi Arabia, not aggressive towards Houthi rebels, Foreign Minister Abdelatty called for a political solution. Following recent Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia, including one that killed an Egyptian, Riyadh expects support from allies. Egypt's National Defence Council pledged support for Saudi Arabia's safety and stability, but parliamentary approval is required for any deployment outside Egypt's borders.
