Union Minister Nitin Gadkari Urges Auto Industry to Reduce EV Prices

Union minister Nitin Gadkari has urged the automobile industry to lower the prices of electric vehicles (EVs) to encourage wider consumer adoption. He noted that while lithium-ion battery costs have significantly dropped, EV prices remain high due to demand exceeding supply. Gadkari predicted that increasing production and competition will naturally lead to price reductions and quality improvements. He emphasized that making EVs more affordable is crucial for reducing India's dependence on fossil fuel imports and achieving export hub status in the automotive sector.

केंद्रीय मंत्री नितिन गडकरी ने ऑटोमोबाइल इंडस्ट्री से कहा है कि इलेक्ट्रिक वाहनों (EVs) की कीमतें कम करें ताकि ज़्यादा लोग इन्हें खरीद सकें। उन्होंने कहा कि लिथियम-आयन बैटरी की लागत काफी कम हो गई है, लेकिन मांग ज़्यादा होने और सप्लाई कम होने की वजह से EV की कीमतें अभी भी ज़्यादा हैं। गडकरी ने भविष्यवाणी की कि उत्पादन बढ़ने और ज़्यादा कंपनियों के आने से कीमतें अपने आप कम हो जाएंगी और क्वालिटी भी सुधरेगी। उन्होंने इस बात पर ज़ोर दिया कि EVs को सस्ता बनाना भारत के लिए बहुत ज़रूरी है ताकि हम जीवाश्म ईंधन के आयात पर कम निर्भर रहें और ऑटोमोबाइल सेक्टर में एक्सपोर्ट हब बन सकें।
