Saudi Air Defences Intercept Hostile Drone Over Riyadh Region

The Hindu - International · world

Saudi air defences successfully intercepted and destroyed a hostile drone in the Riyadh region on Saturday. Debris from the interception fell without causing any injuries, according to the spokesman for the Saudi-led military coalition. While the drone's origin remains unconfirmed, the incident occurs amid heightened tensions and increased attacks by Yemen's Iran-backed Houthis on Saudi Arabia in recent weeks. These attacks, targeting infrastructure and airports, threaten the kingdom's economic diversification plans and follow the collapse of a fragile truce in Yemen.
