SC asks EC to decide TMC symbol dispute

The Supreme Court has directed the Election Commission to resolve the symbol dispute between the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress and a rival faction within three months. Both groups have been given four weeks to submit their evidence and pleadings to claim the "two flower with grass symbol." The Election Commission had previously frozen the original TMC symbol and allotted 'football player' to Mamata's faction and 'envelope' to the rival group. Mamata's petition argues that freezing the symbol unfairly deprives her of the name and symbol she has long represented.
