J&K Assembly Disrupted Over Withdrawal of Bill to Increase MLAs' Salaries

The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly experienced a brief disruption on Wednesday when an MLA raised the issue of a withdrawn bill intended to increase legislators' salaries. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had moved to withdraw the bill, along with one for ministers' salaries, citing a lack of unanimity. An NC MLA alleged the BJP's opposition stemmed from their salary recommendation being rejected, a claim refuted by a BJP MLA who stated the government withdrew the bill. The Speaker intervened, and proceedings resumed.

बुधवार को जम्मू-कश्मीर विधानसभा में तब थोड़ी देर के लिए कामकाज रुका जब एक विधायक ने विधायकों का वेतन बढ़ाने वाले बिल को वापस लेने का मुद्दा उठाया। मुख्यमंत्री उमर अब्दुल्ला ने आम सहमति न होने का हवाला देते हुए मंत्रियों के वेतन वाले बिल के साथ इसे भी वापस लेने की बात कही थी। एक नेशनल कॉन्फ्रेंस (NC) के विधायक ने आरोप लगाया कि बीजेपी के विरोध की वजह यह थी कि उनकी वेतन वृद्धि की सिफारिश ठुकरा दी गई थी, लेकिन बीजेपी के एक विधायक ने इस बात से इनकार करते हुए कहा कि सरकार ने बिल वापस लिया था। स्पीकर ने बीच-बचाव किया और कार्यवाही फिर से शुरू हुई।
