Supreme Court to Hear Election Commission Decision-Making Case

The Supreme Court has agreed to hear a new petition questioning whether Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar can make unilateral decisions without the consent of other Election Commissioners. Senior advocate Vikas Singh presented the matter before a bench headed by CJI Suryakant. Singh argued that according to legal rules, decisions in a multi-member commission should be made by consensus or majority. The court will hear the petition next week, addressing a significant question about the internal functioning of the Election Commission.
