Mumbai's new East-West Vidyavihar bridge is caught in a naming dispute ahead of its opening. Shiv Sena (UBT) wants it named after actor Nana Patekar, while BJP MLA Parag Shah proposed naming it after Captain Smit Machchhar, the pilot who thwarted a mid-air hijacking. Sena (UBT) leaders met the Mumbai Mayor with their demand. A BMC leader accused Sena (UBT) of creating controversy to claim credit, suggesting Patekar is more suited for a theatre. The 650-meter bridge connects the eastern and western sides of Vidyavihar railway station.
