He threatened a nationwide protest if the demand is not met. The family seeks an audience with President Droupadi Murmu to narrate their plight. Rahul Gandhi also wrote to the President, urging reconsideration of Gautam’s appointment pending a CBI investigation. The victim's father stated that Gautam should not hold the governor's post during the ongoing probe into his daughter's death.

2022 में ऋषिकेश रिसॉर्ट हत्याकांड के एक पीड़ित के पिता ने सिक्किम के राज्यपाल दुष्यंत कुमार गौतम को हटाने की मांग करते हुए 24 घंटे की समय सीमा दी है। उन्होंने चेतावनी दी कि अगर उनकी मांग पूरी नहीं हुई तो देशव्यापी विरोध प्रदर्शन किया जाएगा। परिवार राष्ट्रपति द्रौपदी मुर्मू से मिलकर अपनी व्यथा सुनाना चाहता है। राहुल गांधी ने भी राष्ट्रपति को पत्र लिखकर सीबीआई जांच लंबित रहने तक गौतम की नियुक्ति पर पुनर्विचार का आग्रह किया था। पीड़ित के पिता ने कहा कि बेटी की मौत की चल रही जांच के दौरान गौतम को राज्यपाल का पद नहीं संभालना चाहिए।
