Book stalls set up by Left parties at Durga Puja pandals in West Bengal have become the latest political flashpoint amid a face-off between Left and Right political factions. The Communist Party of India (Marxist) State Secretary Md. Salim inaugurated one such stall in Kolkata. Sales at these stalls have reportedly seen a 20% increase this year. The Calcutta High Court initially allowed a stall but later stayed the order after the state government challenged it, escalating the political tensions.
