Supreme Court Judge Remarks Delhi Air Will Be Bad Post Diwali

Supreme Court Justice Vikram Nath light-heartedly remarked that Delhi's air quality will significantly worsen after Diwali. He made the comment during a virtual hearing when a senior advocate requested an adjournment to November 17. Justice Nath suggested an earlier date, November 3, noting the environment would be cleaner then. The advocate countered that pollution is bad even before Diwali and that judges must endure the poor air quality. A separate bench will hear the issue of firecracker permissions on Diwali.

सुप्रीम कोर्ट के जस्टिस विक्रम नाथ ने हल्के-फुल्के अंदाज़ में कहा कि दिवाली के बाद दिल्ली की हवा की गुणवत्ता काफी खराब हो जाएगी। उन्होंने यह टिप्पणी एक वर्चुअल सुनवाई के दौरान की, जब एक वरिष्ठ वकील ने 17 नवंबर तक के लिए स्थगन का अनुरोध किया। जस्टिस नाथ ने 3 नवंबर की पहले की तारीख का सुझाव दिया, यह कहते हुए कि तब पर्यावरण साफ होगा। वकील ने पलटवार किया कि दिवाली से पहले भी प्रदूषण खराब होता है और जजों को खराब हवा की गुणवत्ता झेलनी चाहिए। दिवाली पर पटाखों की अनुमति के मुद्दे पर एक अलग बेंच सुनवाई करेगी।
