Business Standard · business
India's consumption of petrol and diesel saw a rise in September, according to preliminary data. Petrol sales increased by 7.21 per cent year-on-year to 3.64 million tonnes, while diesel sales grew by 4.86 per cent to 7.12 million tonnes. In contrast, LPG consumption experienced a significant decline of 9.15 per cent year-on-year, falling to 2.64 million tonnes. This drop in LPG demand is attributed to India's reliance on imported LPG and disruptions caused by the West Asia crisis.
