Kerala HC to Decide Police FIR Duty

The Kerala High Court will decide if state police must file an FIR based on information from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) under the PMLA. The court is hearing a petition seeking a vigilance case against former CM Pinarayi Vijayan and his kin in the CMRL pay-off case. The petitioner alleges a preliminary police inquiry is a tactic to protect culprits. The ED's counsel argued that an FIR is mandatory upon receiving such information. The state government questioned the petition's maintainability as a private one.

केरल हाई कोर्ट तय करेगा कि क्या राज्य पुलिस को PMLA के तहत Enforcement Directorate (ED) से मिली जानकारी के आधार पर FIR दर्ज करनी होगी। कोर्ट CMRL भुगतान मामले में पूर्व CM पिनराई विजयन और उनके रिश्तेदारों के खिलाफ विजिलेंस केस की मांग करने वाली याचिका पर सुनवाई कर रहा है। याचिकाकर्ता का आरोप है कि शुरुआती पुलिस जांच दोषियों को बचाने की चाल है। ED के वकील ने दलील दी कि ऐसी जानकारी मिलने पर FIR दर्ज करना अनिवार्य है। राज्य सरकार ने एक निजी याचिका के तौर पर मामले की स्वीकार्यता पर सवाल उठाया।
