EU Fines Google €403 Million For Location Data

Ireland, on behalf of the EU, has fined Google €403 million for improperly using users' location data between May 2018 and February 2020. The Data Protection Commission found Google infringed GDPR regarding the lawfulness and fairness of processing location data. Individuals may have been unaware their location data was used to influence ads or infer interests. Google must comply with GDPR within six months.
