Coimbatore Student Death: Two Classmates Arrested For Caste Harassment

Two classmates of a Class XI student who died by suicide over alleged caste-based harassment have been arrested in Coimbatore. The deceased, A. Akilan (16), a student from a Scheduled Caste community, was reportedly harassed by his classmates since a teacher made him and four others stand up in class two months ago for consuming beef. The school's headmaster and the teacher involved have been suspended pending an inquiry. Police are investigating all allegations made by the student's parents against the classmates, teacher, and headmaster.
