In Araria, Bihar, a young woman was allegedly raped by a man while she was alone at home. Following the incident, local representatives reportedly convened a two-day panchayat, offering the victim between Rs 1 lakh and Rs 5 lakh to settle the matter and prevent police involvement. When negotiations failed, the victim approached the Raniganj police station with her sister. Based on her statement, police registered a case and have taken the accused, identified as Dinesh Vishwas, into custody for questioning.
