The Kerala unit of the Congress party controversially called for the resignation of Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, stating they would find a replacement. This statement came after the CJI commented that law and order is not his domain. The Congress unit later deleted the post and removed the individual responsible. The BJP reacted strongly, calling it confirmation of their charge that the Congress party aims to destroy constitutional institutions. Union minister Kiren Rijiju accused the Congress of targeting the judiciary and all democratic institutions.
