The Karnataka High Court has directed the state government to establish and operationalize district-level committees within three months to address illegal immigration cases. Justice M. Nagaprasanna mandated strict adherence to standard operating procedures and ordered a compliance report on the committees' constitution and status. The directive came while quashing criminal cases against a Bengaluru doctor, who had reported illegal Bangladeshi nationals. The judge emphasized that illegal immigration poses a significant challenge to national sovereignty, border integrity, and internal security.
