Six Kolkata Scientists Receive Patent For Electrical Leak-Check Device

Times of India · technology

Six researchers from Kolkata have been granted a patent by the Centre for their real-time electrical leakage monitoring device, designed to prevent electrocution in waterlogged urban areas. The 'Electrocution Detection and Alert System (EDAS)' attaches to lampposts, detecting leaks and sending alerts while enabling automated power isolation. This technology aims to provide crucial protection during monsoon seasons, potentially saving lives through timely SMS, sound, or light warnings. Trials for the device, developed over three years, were conducted last year in Jadavpur.
