Congress Leader Seeks Action Against Six State Chief Secretaries For Skipping PAC Hearing

Congress General Secretary K.C. Venugopal has written to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla requesting action against the Chief Secretaries of Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Punjab, Odisha, Bihar, and Madhya Pradesh. These officials failed to appear before the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) for a hearing on irregularities in scholarship schemes for Scheduled Caste students. Venugopal stated that their absence, despite being summoned, constitutes a breach of privilege. The PAC had previously noted issues with fund disbursement and coordination during a study visit.

कांग्रेस महासचिव के.सी. वेणुगोपाल ने लोकसभा अध्यक्ष ओम बिरला को पत्र लिखकर उत्तर प्रदेश, कर्नाटक, पंजाब, ओडिशा, बिहार और मध्य प्रदेश के मुख्य सचिवों के खिलाफ कार्रवाई का अनुरोध किया है। ये अधिकारी अनुसूचित जाति के छात्रों के लिए छात्रवृत्ति योजनाओं में अनियमितताओं पर सुनवाई के लिए लोक लेखा समिति (PAC) के समक्ष उपस्थित नहीं हुए थे। वेणुगोपाल ने कहा कि बुलाए जाने के बावजूद उनकी अनुपस्थिति विशेषाधिकार का उल्लंघन है। PAC ने पहले एक अध्ययन दौरे के दौरान धन के वितरण और समन्वय में समस्याओं पर ध्यान दिया था।
