Mining Dust Kills Residents in Rajasthan's Aravallis

Silicosis, an incurable lung disease caused by inhaling silica dust from mining, is claiming lives in Rajasthan's Aravalli region. In Syalodra village alone, residents report over 50 deaths. Manjeet, 32, and Manoj, died from the disease after working at stone crushing units. Families have spent savings on treatment, with little administrative help. A Supreme Court-appointed panel assessing the Aravallis did not visit many affected mining areas.

राजस्थान के अरावली इलाके में सिलिकोसिस जानलेवा साबित हो रही है। यह फेफड़ों की लाइलाज बीमारी है जो खदानों की धूल से होती है। स्यलोद्रा गांव में ही 50 से ज़्यादा लोगों की मौत हो चुकी है। 32 साल के मंजीत और मनोज की भी स्टोन क्रशिंग यूनिट में काम करने के बाद इसी बीमारी से जान चली गई। परिवारों ने इलाज पर सब कुछ लुटा दिया, पर मदद ज़्यादा नहीं मिली। सुप्रीम कोर्ट की एक कमेटी ने भी कई खदानों का दौरा नहीं किया।
