Ujjain mosque section removed amid tension

Tension erupted in Ujjain after a section of the 650-year-old Shahi Masjid was slated for removal to widen a road for the Simhastha Kumbh preparations. When authorities arrived night, clashes broke out with protesters, leading to police using tear gas and batons. Stones were thrown, and markets closed. While some in the Muslim community supported voluntary removal of the illegal portion, others opposed it. Ultimately, community members began demolishing the section themselves.
