Chennai-Bengaluru Highway Vellore Subway Ready By October

A new pedestrian subway on the Chennai-Bengaluru Highway (NH-44) near Green Circle in Vellore will be ready for public use by the end of October. The ₹7.5-crore underpass, measuring 25 metres long and 5.5 metres wide, aims to end a one-kilometre detour for motorists and pedestrians. It will feature facilities like CCTV cameras, LED streetlights, and ramps for persons with disabilities. Barricades will be installed to prevent jaywalking and encourage safe usage, addressing the issue of frequent accidents at the junction.
