Former IPS officer Kiran Bedi has supported the decision to de-notify Jantar Mantar as a protest site, explaining its narrow lanes and proximity to sensitive buildings make it unsuitable. She stated that every city needs designated spaces for democratic expression and that the administration had previously erred in selecting Jantar Mantar. The Delhi Police recently named Ramlila Maidan, Burari Maidan, and CBD Ground as alternative protest venues. Bedi advocates for shifting demonstrations away from Parliament and commercial hubs like Connaught Place for national safety and to protect public spaces.
