Voter Name Appears 11 Times in Azamgarh Rolls; ECI Orders Action Against 9 Officials

The Election Commission of India has ordered action against nine officials following an investigation into electoral roll irregularities in Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh. The probe revealed that the name Vikas Yadav appeared 11 times with identical details for different individuals. The commission has directed departmental proceedings against the then electoral registration officer and two assistant officers. Additionally, notices for termination have been issued for five booth-level officers and a computer assistant. This serious lapse in supervision led to the ECI ordering strict action under the Representation of the People Act.

चुनाव आयोग ने आजमगढ़, उत्तर प्रदेश में मतदाता सूची की अनियमितताओं की जांच के बाद नौ अधिकारियों के खिलाफ कार्रवाई का आदेश दिया है। जांच में पता चला कि विकास यादव नाम 11 बार अलग-अलग व्यक्तियों के लिए समान विवरण के साथ दिखाई दिया। आयोग ने तत्कालीन निर्वाचक पंजीकरण अधिकारी और दो सहायक अधिकारियों के खिलाफ विभागीय कार्यवाही का निर्देश दिया है। इसके अतिरिक्त, पांच बूथ-स्तरीय अधिकारियों और एक कंप्यूटर सहायक के लिए समाप्ति के नोटिस जारी किए गए हैं। पर्यवेक्षण में इस गंभीर चूक के कारण चुनाव आयोग ने जनप्रतिनिधित्व अधिनियम के तहत सख्त कार्रवाई का आदेश दिया है।
