Former North Carolina School Becomes Senior Apartments After 20 Years Vacant

Times of India · good-news

Cassandra Henderson, who graduated from Dillard Junior High School in North Carolina in 1968, has moved back into the building as a resident of its newly restored senior apartments. The former school, closed in 2002 and vacant for over two decades, has been redeveloped into 53 affordable homes for seniors aged 62 and older. This project combines historic preservation with addressing the critical shortage of affordable housing for older adults. The conversion allows residents to remain connected to their communities, preserving a historic property while giving it a new purpose.
