A suspected rabid dog bit 16 people, aged between 8 and 35, in Latehar district from Friday afternoon to late night. The injured were treated at Balumath community health centre, with some sustaining deep wounds. All victims received anti-rabies vaccines, tetanus injections, and symptomatic medicines. The district lacks a dog-catching facility, making stray dog management difficult. The administration is exploring measures to restrict the movement of potentially rabid dogs and has advised roadside eatery owners to remain alert.

लातेहार जिले में शुक्रवार दोपहर से देर रात तक एक संदिग्ध पागल कुत्ते ने 8 से 35 साल की उम्र के 16 लोगों को काट लिया। घायलों का इलाज बालूमाथ सामुदायिक स्वास्थ्य केंद्र में किया गया, कुछ को गहरे घाव भी आए। सभी पीड़ितों को रेबीज-रोधी टीके, टेटनस इंजेक्शन और लक्षणों के अनुसार दवाएं दी गईं। जिले में कुत्तों को पकड़ने की सुविधा नहीं है, जिससे आवारा कुत्तों का प्रबंधन मुश्किल हो जाता है। प्रशासन संभावित पागल कुत्तों की आवाजाही को रोकने के उपायों पर विचार कर रहा है और सड़क किनारे खाने-पीने की दुकान चलाने वालों को सतर्क रहने की सलाह दी है।
