New Delhi is on lockdown with heavy police presence and barricades ahead of a planned protest by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP). The CJP is demanding reforms and the rollback of a voter revision exercise that removed 130 million names from the voter list. Authorities have cancelled trains, shut metro stations, and imposed internet shutdowns. The founder of the CJP, Abhijeet Dipke, along with other leaders, has been detained. The crackdown has drawn comparisons to the 1975 Emergency.
