Bombay HC Orders Goregaon Industrial Estate Occupants To Vacate In Three Weeks

The Bombay High Court has ordered occupants of the Vijay Industrial Estate in Goregaon East, Mumbai, to vacate the premises within three weeks. The court cited the building's dilapidated condition, constructed in 1973, as an imminent threat to life and limb. A BMC notice had classified the structure as unsafe and in a critical state. The judges dismissed a petition challenging the notice, emphasizing the need to preserve historic buildings while ensuring safety. A court commissioner's report also confirmed the hazardous condition, recommending evacuation and demolition.

बॉम्बे हाईकोर्ट ने गोरेगांव ईस्ट, मुंबई में विजय इंडस्ट्रियल एस्टेट के कब्ज़ेदारों को तीन हफ़्ते के अंदर परिसर खाली करने का आदेश दिया है। कोर्ट ने 1973 में बने इस जर्जर भवन को जान-माल के लिए बड़ा खतरा बताया। बीएमसी की एक नोटिस में इस इमारत को असुरक्षित और गंभीर हालत में बताया गया था। जजों ने नोटिस को चुनौती देने वाली याचिका खारिज कर दी और कहा कि ऐतिहासिक इमारतों को बचाना ज़रूरी है, लेकिन सुरक्षा भी सुनिश्चित करनी होगी। कोर्ट कमिश्नर की रिपोर्ट में भी इमारत की खतरनाक हालत की पुष्टि हुई और खाली कराने व गिराने की सिफ़ारिश की गई।
