Karnataka is exploring the potential of its mangroves and other blue carbon ecosystems to generate economic value through carbon credits. The state aims to achieve a target of five million tonnes of carbon credits over five years. This initiative was discussed at a workshop focused on blue carbon ecosystems and mangrove projects. The goal is to move from climate discussions to practical implementation, creating economic opportunities through green growth and investment.

कर्नाटक अपने मैंग्रोव और अन्य ब्लू कार्बन इकोसिस्टम की क्षमता का उपयोग करके कार्बन क्रेडिट के माध्यम से आर्थिक मूल्य उत्पन्न करने की संभावना तलाश रहा है। राज्य का लक्ष्य पांच वर्षों में 50 लाख टन कार्बन क्रेडिट का लक्ष्य हासिल करना है। इस पहल पर ब्लू कार्बन इकोसिस्टम और मैंग्रोव परियोजनाओं पर केंद्रित एक कार्यशाला में चर्चा की गई। इसका उद्देश्य जलवायु चर्चाओं से आगे बढ़कर व्यावहारिक कार्यान्वयन की ओर बढ़ना है, जिससे हरित विकास और निवेश के माध्यम से आर्थिक अवसर पैदा हों।
