US Exempts India From Specialty Drugs Tariff

The US has decided not to impose any ad valorem tariffs on certain specialty drugs and their related ingredients imported from India and 19 other countries. This decision comes as the US was preparing to impose 100% tariffs on some patented pharmaceutical imports. The zero percent tariff rate will apply to products used in treating serious illnesses, infertility, cell therapy, gene therapy, and antibody-drug conjugates. This relief is granted to countries with existing trade and security framework agreements with the US.

अमेरिका ने भारत और 19 अन्य देशों से आयातित कुछ विशेष दवाओं और उनके संबंधित घटकों पर कोई एड वलोरम टैरिफ नहीं लगाने का फैसला किया है। यह फैसला ऐसे समय आया है जब अमेरिका कुछ पेटेंटेड फार्मास्युटिकल आयात पर 100% टैरिफ लगाने की तैयारी कर रहा था। शून्य प्रतिशत टैरिफ दर का उपयोग गंभीर बीमारियों, बांझपन, सेल थेरेपी, जीन थेरेपी और एंटीबॉडी-ड्रग कंजुगेट्स के इलाज में किया जाएगा। यह राहत उन देशों को दी गई है जिनके साथ अमेरिका के मौजूदा व्यापार और सुरक्षा ढांचा समझौते हैं।
