Court Acquits 19 in Thein Dam Land Case

A Mohali court has acquitted all 19 individuals accused in the long-standing Thein Dam land acquisition case. The prosecution alleged manipulation of land records and conspiracy to claim excess compensation, primarily based on a discrepancy in recorded land area. However, the court found the conspiracy unproven, noting the acquisition began nearly 20 years after the disputed entries. Crucially, some beneficiaries were not even born when the alleged record manipulation occurred, a fact confirmed by the principal investigating officer.
