WBPDCL Starts Selling Surplus Coal to NTPC

The Hindu · india

The West Bengal Power Development Corporation Limited (WBPDCL) has begun supplying its surplus coal to the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC). This move follows WBPDCL becoming self-reliant in coal production since 2024-25, sourcing entirely from its own captive mines allotted in 2019-20. Under the MMDR Act, 2021, WBPDCL can sell 50% of its annual production after meeting its own needs. The corporation plans to sell 3.5 million tonnes of coal by March 2027.
