Times of India - Business · business

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has directed telecom operators to implement Calling Name Presentation (CNAP) from November 1, 2026. This service will display the caller's name on the recipient's phone, initially on 4G and higher networks. For unsaved domestic numbers, the name from the telecom operator's subscriber records will appear. International calls will show 'International Call' if the number is not saved. Businesses can opt to display registered trade names after verification. Users with CLIR facility will be exempt from name display.
