AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami has criticised the Tamil Nadu government for its "lethargic" handling of onion procurement. He pointed to reports of onions rotting at a Korrukkupet warehouse due to delays in unloading. While the state government cited poor quality for not accepting 450 tonnes from NAFED, the latter claims the consignment was not returned. Palaniswami argued that state residents are suffering from this mismanagement and urged the government to carefully manage price controls for essential commodities.
