Telangana's Department of Women Development and Child Welfare successfully prevented 1,245 child marriages in 2025-26, with an additional 825 cases stopped between April and August this year. One instance involved a 15-year-old girl whose family arranged a marriage, but intervention by an uncle alerted the police. The girl and her mother received counselling at a Sakhi centre, halting the ceremony. Despite these interventions, underlying issues like poverty and lack of education continue to put girls at risk.

तेलंगाना के महिला विकास एवं बाल कल्याण विभाग ने 2025-26 में 1,245 बाल विवाहों को सफलतापूर्वक रोका। इस साल अप्रैल से अगस्त के बीच 825 और मामले रोके गए। एक मामले में, 15 साल की एक लड़की के परिवार ने उसकी शादी तय की थी, लेकिन एक चाचा ने पुलिस को सूचना दी। लड़की और उसकी माँ को सखी केंद्र में काउंसलिंग दी गई और शादी रोक दी गई। इन कोशिशों के बावजूद, गरीबी और शिक्षा की कमी जैसी समस्याएँ लड़कियों को खतरे में डाल रही हैं।
