BJP Uses CPM's 1972 Rigged Poll Charge To Corner Congress

Times of India · politics

The BJP has invoked the Communist Party of India (Marxist)'s past allegations of a "rigged poll" by the Congress in 1972 to counter current accusations of "vote-chori" against itself. BJP MP Nishikant Dubey shared a CPM report detailing how the Congress allegedly used state power to manipulate the Bengal election. The report claimed the Congress disregarded rules, including allowing voters to vote and ensuring proper counting. Dubey used this to criticize Rahul Gandhi's campaign against the Election Commission and the BJP.
