The Hindu · india
Tamil Nadu Leader of the Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin has accused the state government of polishing free ration rice and selling it as fine-grade Ponni rice for ₹30 per kg. He stated that people across Tamil Nadu are reporting this issue, with some returning the rice. Stalin questioned the tender process for procuring this rice and the government's subsidy, referencing a similar scheme from 2007. He noted that despite 2.28 crore ration cards, polished rice is allegedly being distributed at only 250 locations, with a limit of 5 kg per family.
