Coimbatore Student Death Probe Transferred To CB-CID

The investigation into the alleged suicide of Class XI student A. Akilan (16) in Coimbatore has been transferred to the Crime Branch Criminal Investigation Department (CB-CID) by the Director General of Police. The case, initially registered by Peelamedu police, involves charges related to abetting suicide and the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. Akilan, who belonged to a Scheduled Caste community, was found dead on October 21.
