New Rules for Court Fee Violations Set Up in Union Territories

The Union law ministry has introduced new rules to establish a framework for handling court fee and stamp rule violations in Union Territories. The Union Territories Court Fees (Adjudication of Penalties and Appeal) Rules, 2026, operationalise amendments to the Court Fees Act, 1870, replacing criminal punishment with financial penalties for minor violations. Revenue officers, stamp vendors, and the public can report violations to designated adjudicating officers. The rules ensure a consistent process with uniform forms, show-cause notices, and appeal mechanisms, while also setting strict timeframes for resolution.

केंद्रीय कानून मंत्रालय ने केंद्र शासित प्रदेशों में कोर्ट फीस और स्टाम्प नियम के उल्लंघन से निपटने के लिए एक ढांचा स्थापित करने के नए नियम पेश किए हैं। केंद्र शासित प्रदेश कोर्ट फीस (जुर्माना और अपील का निर्णय) नियम, 2026, कोर्ट फीस अधिनियम, 1870 में किए गए संशोधनों को लागू करते हैं, जिसमें मामूली उल्लंघनों के लिए आपराधिक सजा को वित्तीय दंड से बदला गया है। राजस्व अधिकारी, स्टाम्प विक्रेता और जनता नामित निर्णय अधिकारियों को उल्लंघन की रिपोर्ट कर सकते हैं। नियम समान प्रपत्रों, कारण बताओ नोटिसों और अपील तंत्र के साथ एक सुसंगत प्रक्रिया सुनिश्चित करते हैं, साथ ही समाधान के लिए सख्त समय-सीमा भी निर्धारित करते हैं।
