Odisha Rain Affects 73,000, 40,000 Evacuated

Heavy rains in Odisha have impacted over 73,000 people across 10 districts, prompting the evacuation of more than 40,000 individuals to safer locations. The widespread rainfall has affected numerous villages and urban areas, with 721 houses sustaining partial or full damage and 4,480 hectares of cropland affected. Mayurbhanj district is among the worst-hit, reporting a significant number of affected people. Rising river levels, including the Subarnarekha and Mahanadi, are causing concerns about potential flooding in low-lying areas. Fortunately, no human or livestock casualties have been reported so far.
