Japan Five-Year Bond Yield Steady After Strong Demand at Auction

Economic Times Markets · stocks

Japan's five-year government bond yield remained largely flat at 2.34% on Wednesday following a successful debt auction that saw robust demand. The auction attracted bids worth 3.56 times the amount offered, surpassing the one-year average bid-to-cover ratio. This strong investor appetite was supported by falling French bond yields and expectations that the Bank of Japan is nearing the end of its interest rate hike cycle. Market participants anticipate the BOJ's terminal rate to be between 1.75% and 2% by June next year.
