Human Error Caused Theni Jailbreak, 17 Inmates Escaped: DGP-Prisons

Director-General of Police, Prisons, Sandeep Rai Rathore stated that human error led to the escape of 17 remand prisoners from Theni district jail on Monday night. Five of the escapees were involved in a murder case in Madurai district. The inmates overpowered jail warders and escaped through the main entry by exploiting a diversion created by a fake medical emergency. Nine prison guards have been suspended, and a detailed inquiry has been ordered into the security lapses.

डीजीपी (जेल) संदीप राय राठौर ने बताया कि सोमवार रात थेनी जिला जेल से 17 विचाराधीन कैदियों के भागने की वजह मानवीय भूल थी। भागे हुए कैदियों में से पांच मदुरै जिले के हत्या के मामले में शामिल थे। कैदियों ने जेल वार्डरों को काबू किया और एक नकली मेडिकल इमरजेंसी द्वारा बनाई गई आड़ का फायदा उठाकर मुख्य द्वार से भाग निकले। नौ जेल गार्डों को निलंबित कर दिया गया है और सुरक्षा खामियों की विस्तृत जांच का आदेश दिया गया है।
