लद्दाख के पूर्व बीजेपी सांसद थुपस्तान छेवांग ने कहा कि सिविल सोसाइटी, गृह मंत्रालय और यूटी प्रशासन के बीच हालिया बातचीत कामयाब रही। उन्होंने एक्टिविस्ट सोनम वांगचुक और अन्य के उन दावों को खारिज किया कि 9 सितंबर की बैठक निराशाजनक थी। छेवांग ने कहा कि सकारात्मक बातें और सहमति के बिंदु जनता को नहीं बताए गए, जबकि बातचीत विफल होने की धारणा फैली। चर्चाओं में जिला परिषदों के चुनाव और क्षेत्र के लिए संवैधानिक सुरक्षा उपाय शामिल थे।
