The Supreme Court has strongly criticized the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) for their "total lackadaisical approach" to preserving heritage sites in the national capital. The court noted a severe lack of action against encroachments and a failure to maintain cleanliness and provide essential status reports. Justices Ahsanuddin Amanullah and N. Kotiswar Singh highlighted an "absolute lack of cohesion" among departments regarding directives to clear encroachments from Lodhi-era tombs. Senior officials from multiple government bodies have been summoned to appear in court.
