Bihar's Munger to Become 'Flower Village' With Marigold Cultivation

Munger district in Bihar is set to become a 'Flower Village' through large-scale marigold cultivation. The district horticulture department aims to cultivate marigolds across 25 hectares under the Rabi Marigold Area Expansion Scheme. Farmers will receive subsidies of up to 50% of the cultivation cost, capped at ₹40,000 per hectare, with the total cost per hectare estimated at ₹80,000. Both landowners and landless farmers can participate, cultivating between 0.1 to 2 hectares. This initiative aims to organize flower production and provide farmers with an alternative to traditional crops.

बिहार के मुंगेर जिले को बड़े पैमाने पर गेंदे की खेती के ज़रिए 'फूलों का गांव' बनाया जाएगा। जिला बागवानी विभाग की योजना है कि रबी गेंदा क्षेत्र विस्तार योजना के तहत 25 हेक्टेयर में गेंदे की खेती कराई जाए। किसानों को खेती की लागत का 50% तक का अनुदान मिलेगा, जो प्रति हेक्टेयर ₹40,000 तक सीमित होगा, जबकि प्रति हेक्टेयर कुल लागत ₹80,000 अनुमानित है। ज़मीन के मालिक और भूमिहीन किसान दोनों भाग ले सकते हैं, जो 0.1 से 2 हेक्टेयर तक खेती कर सकेंगे। इस पहल का मकसद फूलों के उत्पादन को व्यवस्थित करना और किसानों को पारंपरिक फसलों के विकल्प देना है।
