Anti-drug activist Paramjit Singh Jhota was shot dead inside a medical store in Mansa, Punjab, while he was live on Facebook. He had accused the store owner, Ashwani Kumar, of selling drugs to an elderly person. The confrontation escalated into a shooting, and Jhota was critically injured. He later succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. This incident is believed to be an act of revenge for an earlier incident in 2023 where Jhota had publicly shamed the store owner by making him wear a garland of shoes.
