Arunachal Minister Visits Siang Project Site Amidst Local Opposition

Arunachal Pradesh minister Ojing Tasing inspected the drilling site for the proposed Siang Upper Multipurpose Project (SUMP), assessing ground conditions and reviewing ongoing work. He emphasized the project's national importance for water security and energy resilience but stressed the need to protect local community rights. The visit occurs amid opposition from the indigenous Adi community and concerns raised by the Siang Indigenous Farmers’ Forum regarding land, livelihoods, and the environment. Tasing called for dialogue and mutual trust to address these issues.

अरुणाचल प्रदेश के मंत्री ओजिंग ताSing ने प्रस्तावित सियांग अपर मल्टीपर्पस प्रोजेक्ट (SUMP) के लिए ड्रिलिंग साइट का निरीक्षण किया, ज़मीनी हालात का जायज़ा लिया और चल रहे काम की समीक्षा की। उन्होंने जल सुरक्षा और ऊर्जा लचीलेपन के लिए प्रोजेक्ट के राष्ट्रीय महत्व पर ज़ोर दिया, लेकिन स्थानीय समुदाय के अधिकारों की रक्षा की आवश्यकता पर भी बल दिया। यह दौरा स्वदेशी आदि समुदाय के विरोध और सियांग इंडिजिनस फार्मर्स फोरम द्वारा ज़मीन, आजीविका और पर्यावरण को लेकर जताई गई चिंताओं के बीच हुआ। ताSing ने इन मुद्दों को हल करने के लिए बातचीत और आपसी विश्वास का आह्वान किया।
