Odisha Locals Allege Forgery in Land Acquisition for Adani Mine

Indigenous villagers in Odisha's Koraput district are alleging forgery and impersonation in land acquisition for a new bauxite mine. Hundreds of people from Balda and Bannur villages claim their thumb impressions and signatures were faked on documents consenting to the Adani Enterprises subsidiary's project. Villagers state they were protesting elsewhere during the purported village council meetings where consent was allegedly gathered. Elected village heads have denied any valid signatures were collected, and photographs suggest attendance far below the required quorum for land diversion resolutions.
